The A-buzz Parent Carer Forum |
We are a forum of parent carers of children/young people ranging from complex and challenging behaviour, to severely physically and learning disabled, hearing-impaired, Autistic Spectrum, Down’s Syndrome and rare syndromes. The Forum is part of Southampton Voluntary Services & the Children & Young People’s Alliance, and also part of a developing National Parent Carer Forum Network. We also link closely with other Voluntary groups, Southampton City Council and NHS staff informing and working with them on improving families’ lives. We have groups on Looking to the Future (Transition to adulthood), Changing Places, and members who are specialising in Parent Participation, Early Years, Deaf children and being Independent Parent Support Advisors (watch this space!)

What is the Buzz Network and Aiming High for Disabled Children? |
The Buzz Network offers much needed additional help for families, including the One2One service providing flexible care on a 1:1 basis, specialist playschemes and support to access activities (e.g. Brownies, clubs, sports, afterschool clubs). The Buzz Network was developed by Southampton Aiming High for Disabled Children and the enrolment/admin is handled by the Children & Young People’s Information Service of the City Council. Parents have been involved in its development from the beginning, contract process and we now keep the Council and NHS informed about what families need on a day to day basis. Parent carer views are treated as priority so we can make our services even better. Many families have told us that already they are noticing a huge difference to their lives and their child/young person is getting support and parent carers are getting a much needed break from the difficult day to day situation of having a child (or children) with special needs. For more information and to enrol your child/ren with a disability/special or additional needs please see below.
IMPORTANT: please check you live within the Southampton City council boundaries before you sign up. This is a map of the City.
