Aiming High for Disabled Children

Name of Organisation: Aiming High for Disabled Children
Headline: Transforming services for disabled children
What We Do: Aiming High for Disabled Children (AHDC): Better support for families, launched in 2007 for transforming disabled children's services.

The last Government began the programme for disabled children to be a priority, for the whole country and in your local area: a commitment confirmed in the NHS Child Health Strategy, Healthy lives, brighter futures and in the Children's Plan.

In Southampton, the Buzz Network was set up to provide families with additional services. See below

Aiming High for Disabled Children championed Parent Participation, and this website is a result of that locally and funded by it. The A-buzz Parent Carer forum was set up following a variety of family events assisted by The Rose Road Association and we are now 'self-sufficient' and independent. For more info, please see the A-buzz Parent Forum Page.

Please note that the funding for Aiming High for Disabled Children nationally runs until March 2011 and hopefully beyond. We are working with Southampton City Council, Solent Healthcare and the National Parent Carer Forum Network to continue these services.
