We offer a confidential support and information line - 01494 568900 - which provides confidential listening, help and guidance for bereaved families and professionals, signposting to other agencies, support and resources. The phone line is open weekdays from 9am until 5pm, and trained CBC members of staff respond to calls, letters and emails from distressed families and professionals seeking help. This valuable service was established with funds raised by our patron Flappy Lane Fox in memory of her son Harry Sidebottom who was tragically killed in a car crash, aged 24. Our interactive website This website holds a wealth of information for bereaved families including a seachable database of national and local support organisations. Our online forums include a families' discussion forum which offers a welcoming environment where bereaved families can share their experiences and support each other; a young people's advisory forum where young people can give us their opinions and thoughts on particular topics; a forum for professionals to network and share ideas, initiatives and experiences; and a separate forum for teachers. Resources The Child Bereavement Charity produces books, DVDs, CD-Roms, workbooks and packs for bereaved families and professionals. These have been devised with input from families and children, and many of our resources have received British Medical Association recognition for educational merit. Advise us Please do get in touch if you have been bereaved and would like to advise on any aspect of our work. Educating Professionals We believe that by learning from children and parents, professionals can help at a time of crisis and enhance the support they provide to grieving families. CBC is unique amongst bereavement charities in that one of its primary areas of work is to train and support professionals whose work brings them into contact with grieving families. Every year, through our programme of workshops, courses and conferences, we train thousands of professionals from various disciplines in the statutory sectors - nurses, doctors and other healthcare professionals, teachers and school staff, police and emergency service employees, coroner's officers, social and children's workers - as well as those working for organisations in the voluntary sector. |
