What We Do: Choices Advocacy is an Independent charity. It seeks to provide Advocacy for adults with learning disabilities who live in Southampton and South West Hampshire. Almost everybody needs an advocate at some point in their lives and some people are disadvantaged when it comes to speaking up for themselves. Citizen advocates help to change this so that all adults can take part in shaping their own lives.

Choices Advocacy operates in:

  • Southampton
  • The New Forest and Waterside districts
  • Southern Parish of Eastleigh
  • Southern Parish of Romsey.

Services Offered: Choices Advocacy believes that everyone has the right to be heard, we value the views and aspirations of people.

For people with learning difficulties over 16 in Southampton and South West Hampshire we:

  • Listen and help them have their say
  • Ensure they are listened to
  • Help them to change things at home, school, college, work or at their daycentre
  • Help understanding with things such as:

◦Human rights ◦Complaints ◦Who to talk to to sort things out

Choices also offer advocacy for young people with disabilities through transition. Phil Orchard is the Transition Planning worker He: helps young people who are 14 years old or older to plan their lives and their future. also leads the Annual Reviews in Special Schools when pupils are in Years 9, 10 and 11
