Learning Disability Coalition

Name of Organisation: Learning Disability Coalition
Headline:
What We Do: The Learning Disability Coalition represents 14 learning disability organisations, and over 140 supporter organisations who have come together to form one group with one voice.

We believe that people with a learning disability have the right to live independent lives, with the support that they need.

But the Government has said that it will cut its spending by at least 25% over the next five years. We are campaigning to make sure that these cuts do not affect social care support.

We want to make sure that the Government provides enough money so that people with a learning disability have the same choices and chances as everyone else.

We want to:

  • Provide a unified voice to government and other key decision-makers
  • Gather evidence on cuts to services at local level
  • Raise awareness of the financial pressures on services for people with learning disabilities, and campaign for better funding
  • Achieve an evidence-based assessment of the long-term resource requirements for people with learning disabilities.
