What We Do: In the Study Support Centre, support is available to all students with an identified learning need, whatever course they have chosen to study, from First Diploma to Degree level. The Centre's aim is to help and assist the student's achievement of success on their chosen course.

All students have problems with their work at some time or other. The staff at the Study Support Centre are trained to enable learner needs to be met.

The Centre offers Advice and guidance. Specialist assessment of need. Specialist expertise, in particular with regards to dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties. Advice on appropriate materials and equipment. Assessment leading to examination concessions where applicable. Support to obtain Disabled Student Allowance, where appropriate. The Centre is equipped with A large range of free, flexible learning packages, for independent study. Computer-based predictive spelling system for use by dyslexic students - 'Text Help'. Services Offered: The learning support service is designed with the sole aim of enabling all students to achieve their full potential. Confidential advice on any learning support or disability access issues may be obtained from any of the team or the Additional Learning Support Manager.


This course is about enjoying learning through achievement. You can be a student on this course for one, two or three years, depending on an assessment of your needs.

This foundation course will help you to develop your learning and social skills and is suitable for students who have learning difficulties.
